Baptism is not a mere ritual of initiation, but a powerful and rich symbol reflecting several aspects of our relationship with Jesus Christ.

In Christian baptism, we find:

  1. Participation in the death and resurrection of Jesus

      (Mark 10:38-39; Colossians 2:12-3:11; Titus 3:4-7)

  1. Cleansing and purification (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

  2. Solidarity with Jesus  (Romans 6:1-11; Galatians 2:19-20; 3:27)

  3. Entrance into a new community (John 3:4-6)

  4. New identity (Galatians 3:27; Colossians 3:10-11)

  5. Unity.  Baptism is one aspect of our shared faith that all Christians agree is necessary.  Despite all our differences about the manner and timing of baptism, Christians around the world and throughout the generations agree that baptism is given “for the forgiveness of sins” and moves us from the world into the Kingdom of Heaven.  (Ephesians 4:4-5)

Chaparral Christian Church continues the ancient practice of baptism by immersion in our beautiful outdoor baptistery.
